The 2nd decade of the new millennium beckons; let the feasting begin, bring out the very best cutlery. But which is the best cutlery? Isilimela unveils a new range choice cutlery – beautifully designed, exquisitely crafted and traditionally African.

Now, in honour of the African Kings and Queens, we present a new elegant cutlery based on the artwork and design of Marie Vermeulen Breedt one of Africa’s leading artists.

Best known for her portraits and figures, she is gaining a following for her still life interiors and alfrescoes. She works in oil, watercolour, ink, wash and pencil and her work can be found in many important corporate and private collections locally and internationally. She has exhibited extensively throughout SA and USA as well as in Belgium and the UK. It is Marie’s passion for portraits, figures and African history that has led her to create these highly detailed and sophisticated pieces, inspired by the kings and queens of the continent.

Working with pewter and stainless steel each piece is lightweight but strong, and superbly balanced. Best-quality stainless steel ensures durability, with the beauty of gleaming blades, perfectly fused materials and exquisite finishes. In the factory, traditional hand-finishing techniques are employed. Scrupulous attention to detail, the highest standards of workmanship, and stringent quality control procedures ensure that each piece is a unique work of art.

“We have continually focused on providing our customers with the highest quality products, uniquely designed and packaged and, most importantly, fairly and competitively priced,” said David Bolam, Technical Director at Isilimela Technologies.

Johannesburg: Isilimela Technologies (Pty) Limited announced today that it had received a license from the South Africa Diamond and Precious Metal Regulator (SADPMR) to buy rough diamonds and cut and polish diamonds in its factory in Johannesburg. South Africa is the fourth largest producer of rough diamonds, with low-cost reserves sufficient to support long-term continuation of that role, and has recently designated local beneficiation of diamonds as a strategic economic priority.

"We are delighted to get the licence because our medium to long term goal is to pursue interest in the polished diamond market with the development of the cutting and polishing business to beneficiate both low and high-end quality diamonds,” said Nhlanhla Nyide, Managing Director of Isilimela Technologies. “Our vision is to create value through integration of sourcing of rough diamonds, manufacturing of polished diamonds, design, manufacturing of diamond jewellery and retail selling of premier jewellery.”
